Restore America’s Estuaries and the North Carolina Coastal Federation will host the 2019 Living Shoreline Tech Transfer Workshop on Oct. 8-9 at Beaufort Hotel. This two-day workshop is the premier nationwide gathering of the living shorelines community of practice.

The workshop will bring together experts from across the country for a two-day experience that will combine interactive field sessions and ground breaking discussions. Participants will learn about emerging techniques, regulation, engaging our community and more.

“Living shorelines are a win-win solution for enhancing the productivity of our estuaries for fish and wildlife while helping waterfront property owners control shoreline erosion,” said Todd Miller, executive director of the federation. “This meeting helps to ensure that we’re using the best practices for designing, installing and maintaining living shorelines in N.C.”

The workshop is approved for 12 professional development hours by the state Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors and is offering 12 continuing education units by the state Board of Landscape Architects, pending approval, and self-reporting for certified North Carolina planners by state chapter of the American Planning Association is being offered.

Registration is now open and can be access here. Registration includes half-day field sessions, where those registered will be able to see living shoreline projects at their choice of available location. The last day to register online is Monday, Sept. 30.
