Prices are set to increase for general registration on August 3. Student and single-day registrations will still be available.

Early bird registration for the RAE 2024 Coastal & Estuarine Summit closes in just 2 days with prices set to increase to $895 on August 3. This year’s Summit is set to be the biggest yet with over 300 dedicated sessions covering 12 unique areas of coastal restoration and preservation. Located in Washington DC, the Summit will bring together a wide array of stakeholders, decision-makers, and staff from key agencies and congressional offices alongside a nationwide network of diverse and dedicated coastal experts.

Kicking off the Summit will be featured presentations by our incredible panel of dedicated speakers as well as the presentation of the 2024 Dr. Nancy Foster Award presented by the NOAA Office of Habitat and Conservation!

Opening Plenary

Jainey Bavishi – Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Atmosphere, Deputy NOAA administrator. Jainey K. Bavishi, a distinguished expert in the field of climate adaptation and resilience, is the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Deputy NOAA administrator.

 

 

 

Alison Prost – Vice President for Environmental Protection and Restoration, Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF). CBF is co-host and of the 2022 Coastal and Estuarine Summit and will welcome participants to the Chesapeake Bay region. Alison has broad experience in environmental issues, having received her Environmental Law Certificate from the University of Maryland and has worked at the Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning before coming to CBF. She has been with CBF for more than 14 years, first as the Maryland Office attorney, then as the Executive Director of the Maryland Office.

 

 

Daniel Hayden – President & CEO, Restore America’s Estuaries (RAE).  RAE is the co-host of the 2024 Coastal & Estuarine Summit and will provide opening remarks. Daniel joined Restore America’s Estuaries as President and CEO in 2020. He brings over 25 years of experience as a leader in the private and public sectors. Daniel built partnerships and programs for nearly a decade, overseeing quality and learning for an international NGO focused on proven locally-led solutions.

 

 

Panel Discussion

Rico Newman, Elder Council Member, Choptico Band of Piscataway Indians will moderate a panel discussion Tribal Efforts to Restore and Protect the Chesapeake Bay. The panel will help Increase understanding of the roles that the tribes in the Chesapeake region are doing to protect and restore the ecosystem; provide models for restoration actions; discuss the challenges and obstacles facing tribes; and highlight opportunities for partnerships.

 

 

Closing Plenary

Ronald Tickle, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Environmental Management and Restoration will lead a panel discussion on how the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program preserves military missions by supporting cost-sharing agreements between the Military Services, other federal agencies, state and local governments, and private conservation organizations to avoid land use conflicts near military installations, address environmental restrictions that limit military activities, and increase resilience to climate change.

The RAE Summit is open to everyone dedicated to the restoration and conservation of our estuaries and bays.
