SNEP 2025 Rhode Island Announcement

PROVIDENCE, RI – On Thursday, September 5, US Senator Jack Reed will be joined by Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, US Congressman Gabe Amo, EPA Reg. 1 Water Division Director Ken Moraff, and other state and local partners to announce $11.5 million in new EPA funding for clean water and healthy coastal ecosystems in Rhode Island and Massachusetts under EPA’s Southeast New England Program (SNEP).
The event will highlight seven Rhode Island organizations receiving $1.5 million in grants for high-priority projects throughout the state, and will be followed by a walking tour of a nearby restoration site, York Pond, which is receiving a $282,000 grant under the program.
At the event, EPA will also announce $8.75 million in new funding for technical assistance to help communities working on clean water and healthy ecosystems. The assistance will be provided over the next five years through the SNEP Network, managed by the New England Environmental Finance Center at the University of Southern Maine, part of the University of Maine system.
