The Inclusive Coasts Initiative will provide opportunities for grantmakers, project implementers, educators, and members of the coastal community to engage in two series of workshops beginning in the Fall of 2021:
- one series for grantmakers focused on improving promotion and access to funding opportunities for traditionally marginalized communities
- one series for project implementers aimed at improving collaboration and communication on project siting, design, and completion to incorporate just and equitable outcomes for all coastal communities
A working group will be established to guide and contribute to the creation of the material, with the ultimate curricula being designed by an expert in DEIJ grant issues. RAE will also collaborate with the working group, consultant, and workshop participants to produce best practice guidance and tactical management plans for grantmakers and project implementers. These documents will be made available to the public, so as to facilitate further integration of the concepts into grant cycles.
Additionally, RAE has a long-standing Webinar series that has largely focused on living shorelines, blue carbon and habitat restoration, however, weaved into the narrative of this work, we will increasingly profile diverse voices, approaches, and just application of coastal restoration practices.
